The Founder Story Engine
For founders whose story lands beautifully in person and dies in writing.
Definition
A founder story engine is a method for converting a founder's actual history into a written narrative with enough structure to survive being retold by a stranger, which is the property that makes a story usable by journalists, investors and buyers.
You have told your origin story a hundred times. It works in a room. It has never once worked on a page.
The reason is structural, not stylistic. Spoken stories survive on delivery, written ones survive on architecture. This gives you the architecture: the frameworks I use to turn a founder's actual history into something a journalist can quote and a stranger can repeat.
What you get
- Seven narrative frameworks with the exact conditions each one works under, and when it collapses
- The extraction interview: the question sequence that gets the real story out, including the three questions that unlock most people
- The retelling test, a hard filter for whether a story survives being passed on
- Worked transformations showing a flat founder bio becoming a story that travels
The problem
Why this keeps happening
A story that works in person is carried by things that do not survive the transfer to text: your timing, your face, the fact that the listener already likes you. Strip those away and what is left is usually a sequence of events with no tension in it.
Written stories need load-bearing structure. A specific stake. A decision with a real cost. A turn the reader did not see coming but believes immediately afterwards.
The test is not whether your story is interesting. It is whether a stranger can retell it accurately to a third person after reading it once. Almost no founder bio passes that test.
What is The Founder Story Engine?
The Founder Story Engine is a founder story engine is a method for converting a founder's actual history into a written narrative with enough structure to survive being retold by a stranger, which is the property that makes a story usable by journalists, investors and buyers.
Seven narrative frameworks, an extraction interview that gets the real material out of you, and a hard filter for whether what you have built will actually survive being passed on.

How it runs
How does The Founder Story Engine work, step by step?
The Founder Story Engine runs in 5 steps: extract, select, build, test, deploy. Each step is described below with what it produces and why its position in the sequence matters.
- 01
Extract
Run the interview sequence. Three specific questions unlock most people, and they are not the ones you expect.
- 02
Select
Match your raw material to the framework that fits it. Using the wrong frame is why most attempts feel forced.
- 03
Build
Construct to the framework, with the stake and the turn placed deliberately rather than hoped for.
- 04
Test
Apply the retelling test. If it does not survive, you find out here rather than in a press interview.
- 05
Deploy
Cut the same story to bio length, about-page length, and interview-answer length without losing the spine.
What is inside
What do you get with The Founder Story Engine?
The Founder Story Engine is delivered as a working skill file plus a written companion covering the method. It contains 4 parts: seven frameworks, extraction interview, the retelling test, worked transformations.
- Seven frameworks35%
- Extraction interview25%
- The retelling test15%
- Worked transformations25%
Failure modes
What do people get wrong?
The 4 most common failures are: leading with chronology; using the wrong framework; confusing detail with specificity; never testing retelling. Each one is explained below with why it happens and what to do instead.
- 01
Leading with chronology
A sequence of events is a CV. A story needs a stake and a turn, and neither is chronological.
- 02
Using the wrong framework
Forcing your material into a frame it does not fit is why so many attempts read as manufactured.
- 03
Confusing detail with specificity
More detail slows a story down. The right single detail carries the whole thing.
- 04
Never testing retelling
If you have not watched someone try to repeat it back, you do not know whether it works.

The alternatives
How does The Founder Story Engine compare to the alternatives?
There are three ways to solve this: do it yourself, hire it out, or buy the method. The Founder Story Engine is the third. It costs $25 once, the method stays yours, and you can re-run it without paying again.
| Consideration | Doing it yourself | Hiring it out | This system |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whose story it is | Yours, badly told | Theirs, well told | Yours, well told |
| Cost shape | Weeks of drafts | Per-project fee | One payment |
| Reusable for new formats | Start over each time | Pay again | Same spine, any length |
| Survives retelling | Rarely tested | Sometimes | Explicitly tested |
| You learn the method | Slowly | No | Yes |

Questions
I do not have a dramatic story.
Almost nobody does, and dramatic is not the requirement. Specific is. The extraction interview exists precisely because most people cannot see what is interesting in their own history.
Is this just a pack of prompts?
No. A prompt is one instruction. This is a working system: the method, the order, the judgement calls, and the standard for what finished work looks like. You are buying the workflow I run inside a paid engagement.
I am an executive, not an operator. Is this too hands-on?
Each one is built so you can either run it yourself or hand it to whoever does this work for you. The value is that the method is decided, so nobody is improvising on your reputation.
Could I not just ask an AI to do this?
You can ask. You will get a generic answer, because the model does not know what good looks like at a senior level and has no opinion about sequence. That judgement is the product.
Do I need to be technical?
No. Installing it is dragging one file into a folder.
What format do I actually receive?
A working skill file you install once, plus a written companion explaining the method so you can adapt it rather than follow it blindly. It runs inside Claude.
What happens after I click buy?
It opens an email to me, already filled in. I reply with a payment link and send the files the same day. Deliberately human, because I want to know who is using these.
Is there a refund?
Yes. If you use it properly and it does not do what this page said, tell me and I refund you. No argument.
